Middletown's “Cliff Walk”

Learn about the history of the area known as “The Esplanade” on Easton’s Point and one man’s vision to create an oceanfront space in Middletown that could be shared by private property owners and the public. The lecture will also touch on two other approaches to environmental improvement – public sector efforts and citizen “do-it-yourself” initiatives.

St. Columba's, The Berkeley Memorial Chapel

Take a look inside this “jewel box” of a chapel, known for its exceptional stained glass, and learn about the church’s history and some of its notable parishioners.

The Norman Bird Sanctuary

Location: Norman Bird Sanctuary, 583 Third Beach Road, Middletown, RI
Learn about the history of this 325-acre treasure of nature preserved by Mabel Norman Cerio for the protection of birds and the enjoyment of the public.

As directed by state and federal guidelines the Middletown Historical Society is gradualy reopening with the rest of society. Visitors who have been vaccincated are not required to wear masks, only visitors who have not been vaccinated we recommend mask to be worn.

Anyone who has symptoms and/or is feeling ill, vaccinated or not, please stay home.

A yearly event where Boyd's Mill comes alive, all 8 vanes with sails turning, paired with arts/craft vendors, family entertainment & more.

Digital Archive Assistant
We are currently looking for assistance digitizing our paper library.

The ideal assistant is familiar with scanning photographs & properly scanning large volume of multiple page documents, comfortable with using a windows based program, extremely organized and detail oriented. Each image/document must be cataloged, itemized and detailed, then scanned into our program. It is a volunteer based position with a flexible schedule.
